Israeli occupation forces are pursuing Palestinian journalists in Gaza!
Over 122 Palestinian journalists have been targeted since October 7th while reporting on the atrocities of the violent and murderous aggression carried out by the Zionist oppressive apparatus. As was the case with prominent journalist Wael al-Dahdouh, this action aims to persistently stifle and misrepresent the truth and intimidate anyone trying to portray the true picture in their lives, homes, properties, and families.
Beyond the brutal crimes of the Israeli occupation, the massacre against journalists constitutes a war crime under every international law. "Journalists shall enjoy all rights and forms of protection afforded to civilians in international armed conflicts," reads Article 79 of the First Additional Protocol in accordance with international humanitarian law. Resolution 1738 of the UN Security Council denounces attacks against media professionals, journalists, and anyone connected to them. It also calls for an end to these practices and emphasizes the need to treat these workers as civilians who need to be respected, protected, and valued. Furthermore, facilities and equipment utilized by the media are likewise regarded as civilian objectives and shouldn't be the focus of any military assault.
Over 70 media and press institutions, including editorial offices, news agencies, and television channels, have been completely destroyed by the occupation. In just six years, the number of journalists killed by the occupation has surpassed the number of journalists killed during World War II, and all of this has happened in full view of the entire world.
