Jordan and Palestine: One Heart, One Pulse

In every field, the Jordanian-Palestinian connection has historically grown in significance. In all things pertaining to the Palestinian issue, Jordan is regarded as having a dominant presence, both officially and popularly. Saying that Jordan embodies the Palestinian conflict in all its finer dimensions is not hyperbole. There is no comparable bond between two peoples that compares to that of Palestinians and Jordanians. For Palestine and Jordan alike, the alliance between the two states ensures stability. Since Israel's occupation of Palestine, this relationship has undergone numerous phases and important turning points that have impacted its growth in every aspect.

Jerusalem's Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic Sanctities:

Based on a "legal and ethical contract" derived from the Hashemites' prior involvement in overseeing the affairs of the holy sites in Mecca, the Hashemites have been involved in the restoration of Jerusalem's holy sites since 1923, under the direction of Sharif Hussein bin Ali.

Close-knit and all-encompassing economic cooperation

Even though Jordanian-Palestinian relations are unique and highly specific due to their shared social fabric and values, Israel continues to control the two countries' economic relations, tightening its hold over the Palestinian economy and controlling a market valued at billions of dollars.

The Joint Committee between Jordan and Palestine:

The Jordanian-Palestinian Joint Committee seeks to strengthen bilateral ties between Palestine and Jordan, with a focus on the economy. It clears the path for Palestine to break free from the Israeli economy that is forced on it by the realities of the occupation and the collapse of the Paris Agreement's economic provisions, which impede Palestinian economic growth. The committee's objective is to turn toward Arab depth and offer assistance in matters pertaining to the economy, energy, health, and mutual interest.

Trade is regarded as internal when it occurs between the Palestinian territories and Jordan. On January 26, 1995, the Palestinian National Authority signed agreements with Jordan for trade and economic cooperation, as well as agreements for investment protection and promotion, agriculture cooperation, and transportation and transit cooperation. Free trade was endorsed in the trade agreements with Jordan, as well as in the modified agreement of May 3, 1995. They agreed to exempt lists of commodities from both sides' taxes and customs levies. The agreements excluded municipal taxes from exemptions and mandated the creation of many committees to oversee the agreements' execution and evaluate the commodities lists. The agreements also made travel and transportation between the two nations easier.

Jordan: The Cornerstone and Source of Support for the Palestinian Cause

Jordan is the backbone and champion of the Palestinian people and cause because of its unwavering and principled positions. The Palestinian conflict is seen as having the highest priority for Jordan's national interest. The two nations' ongoing coordination and cooperation in all areas is intended to thwart plots that harm both Palestine and Jordan. Any idea, agreement, compromise, or other course of action that could jeopardize the legitimate Palestinian right to end the occupation and create an independent state on the 1967 boundaries, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is rejected by the unwavering Jordanian attitude. In all international and regional forums, events, and communications globally, King Abdullah II advocates for this.
